A little after I started at Wind River Seed in March 1999 I wrote a letter for our website entitled "Notes from a Budding Seed Salesman".  It was short lived.  (Only one entry)  My plan at the time was to record the process of my becoming a seedsman.  Looking back I realize that I was being very optimistic for someone in the business for only a couple of months.  Also looking back I realize I was attempting to start a blog before I knew there was such a thing.

My first entry started out with "Hi there.  My name is Russ and I'm the newest member and first fulltime salesperson here at Wind River Seed."  Then I talked about my education in forestry and psychology.  I then went on to talk about answering the phone and hearing people try to communicate to me in Latin (which I had been led to believe was a dead language.) 

Here it is March of 2008.  I thought now would be a good time for the second entry to introduce the people who make Wind River Seed the place to buy your seed.  You may notice I've changed the name slightly.

Hi there.  My name is Russ.  I've been with Wind River Seed for almost 9 years now and in April of 2007 I completed the purchase of Wind River Seed from my former employers and company founders Rick and Claire Dunne.  Today I can say that I speak fairly fluent Latin although I can occasionally slaughter a pronunciation with the best of them.  My wife, Lisa, is the company CFO.  I somehow managed to charm her away from that modern Camelot called the San Francisco Bay area where she has lived for the past 32 years.  She brings a no nonsense financial acumen and skills in project management and CAD design to the company.  Our passion is seeing live Jazz and Blues and when we get the chance to get away that is what we generally do.
